Racketeer movie

This movie is produced in Kazakhstan. Film director contributed all his money to this movie to make his dream come true. I can easily say that it reflected real life episodes. Language (mostly informal slang), people’s actions, places (mostly Almaty districts)- all of these features made this movie close-to-heart. People at the cinema were glad to see familiar streets, familiar places and cafes and to see “our people” faces.  This movie was promoted a lot, and what is expected, from the first day gathered full cinema halls. Racketeers are everywhere around Kazakhstan, you can meet them anywhere starting from schools to markets. This issue is really close to our people, this is something we see everyday and face with. It is not an American movie (though we like them a lot J  ), with English language, American places and phrases, it is something ours, NATIVE.

Though movie seemed like it didn’t have ending, people were enjoying it.  Plot was not finished but people are waiting for second part. Who knows maybe we will see it next year

Citizen journalism website

Site which has obvious name www.readwriteweb.com is an example of citizen journalism site. Comparing to other sites such as www.cj.kz , www.ohmynews.com etc, this site is targeted to special audience. It is devoted to people who are interested in web technologies. Actually, it is not just the site where you can enter and start writing, for getting permission to write at this site, it is necessary to inform chief editor, write him some topics you would like to cover and who you are, after that if editor thinks that you are the right person and professional, he gives an access to writing.

This site provides RSS feed for anyone who wants to get the latest news, it has lots of sponsors (such as Hakia, webmessenger etc)  which shows that site is popular among interested audience. Except this, this site was ranked as Top 20 blogs in the world and was named as one of 100blogs we love  .

It is possible to become not only the writer to this blog, but the sponsor as well. You need to write to the editor and inform him about it. News, which are covered at this site are divided into special categories such as analysis, startups, best of etc. It helps to get to the news you need easier. Also, this site had a job board, where there are some job offers all over US. Advertising is also possible at this site. There are some basic requirements about advertising form and sizes, but to get pricing it is needed to contact chief editor.

This site is more professional than amateur site, that’s why it has been used by professionals.

Britannica site: 2 in 1?

This site might be open and might be closed as well. In my opnion, it gives the information, but somehow restricts it. There are different examples which can be given to prove it. For instance, if you search for some subject, let us say, Kazakhstan, it gives you some information about the historical background, territory, flag and all other minor info, but to get full information including the artciles with mentions about Kazakhstan and book sources, you need to be subscriber and pay for it. In my mind, this is closed type, because it restricts some information and asks for additional conditions to get it.  But, still it gives enough information for explorer, who is interested in general information. “Sophisticated explorer”, in its order, should pay.

Still there are some provings which demonstrate that the site is open.  One of the treats of “open site” is blogs. Blog sector contains different types of artciles which are published by ordinary people to express their opinions and thoughts. Britannica states: “We’ve given our writers encouragement and a lot of freedom, so the opinions here are theirs, not the company’s. ” It is a double-sided quote, because from the one side it illustrates that site is open to information and it gives the freedom of expression, but at the same time it shows that site is not responsible for the information and ideas posted in blogs and it doesn’t mean that they support these ideas.

Site, itself, is divided into two parts. If you go to to the mail page, you will not see anything like” We are open to your information”, “share with us”, “we need your data”. There is no anything like this, but if you follow the link “blog” you can find open.britannica, which slogan is Connect, Create, Share. Smart, isn’t it? To be open and closed site at once and be still popular among people.

For some reason, creators decided to divide site into britannica. com and open.britannica.com. Perhaps, this was made to show people that there is a big gap between open and closed site so people do not confuse what is for what. Britannica. com is just for searching of what is in the database and open.britannica is for expressing opinions. These shouldn’t be messed up.

Different communities-different worlds

We live in one planet-but still in different worlds.  It is impossible to live in society and be out of it, that is why you are all the time, from the day you were born to the day you will day, will belong to the communities. Different communities which will change throughout the life time….It is impossible t be the part of one community, at least, the person will be involved in three communities….Let me explain why. Each person has the family, it is initial thing you inherit from the nature, you have external communities such as school/university/job/interest group and personal community which is friends/boyfriend-girlfriend/husband-wife.

I do not believe people when they say that they are alone or lonely. I truly believe that it is impossible and  if you do not have person who you love and friends who you trust, you just have serious problems with self-esteem. The problem is n you and not in people surrounding you. Just remember that it is impossible to be alone.

NewEurasia site comments

neweurasia.net site was a real surprise to me. I didn’t expect that I will be able to find nice and “full” site about Central Asia and its life. Different people express different opinions, site management shows 100% trust to the people’s thoughts, not even thinking that some of them can be wrong or unproved. This site is an example of good participatory journalism. People have an opportunity to write messages and express themselves through blogging or writing articles to neweurasia.net . Go and check it.

what is Journalism?

Journalism is the collection of all professions. It is not enough just to be a good writer; you should have critical mindset, analytical way of thinking, honesty and desire to show the truth. Being journalist requires more than being a manager for example. Good journalist should devote his/her life to this profession, it needs more dedication and sacrifice than all other professions. You need to be honest, open-minded, impartial and feel desire to serve people and to the nation. You should have brilliant reputation and people should know that no one can “buy” you and your attitude. You need to be all the time up-to-date and no matter, if it is weekends or working days, search for news….It is pretty hard.,isn’t it?  What do you think about it?

Interactive and Not Interactive

The word “interactive” means a lot. It is not just a simple word meaning being communicative and have some feedback, but this word has more global importance. Interactive means “alive”.  People cannot live without socializing, talking and exchanging information and experience.

Anything might be interactive and not interactive. Everything depends on people, on their desire to be interactive or not. The more important thing is to find if something which is originally not interactive to be interactive.  I don’t know the answer to this question…

This issue is not just about class participation or Internet connection or phone talks. What if we think about interactivity of God? Is it interactive or not interactive to talk to God? It is still unclear if the God exists or not, do you pray so the God can hear you or you just ask the empty space? From the one side people who believe in God can say that God exists and helps and supports me, so this is interactivity, but it is not proved, and we can say that this connection is not interactive.

It is possible to give billions of examples like this, so this is something which needs deep thoughts and philosophical mind set…. :)
